The online store was launched in 2005 to fill the need for a world-class ecommerce hub for fans of horror media after a year of touring the country at conventions selling the FearWerx brand of original apparel and collectibles which began with the ZOMBIE OUTBREAK SURVIVAL KIT. Originally produced as a one-shot novelty, the "ZSK" (as it is known internally) has sold over 30,000 pieces. The FearWerx brand now feature dozens of different products in the apparel and collectible categories.
We also either stock or feature hundreds of items from vendors and merchandise partners, making this truly the one-stop shop for fans of dark entertainment. FearWerx.com features such well-known brands of horror merchandise as Mezco and NECA toys, apparel from Rotten Cotten, Fright Rags and Rock Rebel, classic gothic/steampunk jewelry from Alchemy Gothic and more.
We have just relaunched our DVD section with the specific intention of providing fans with an uncrowded opportunity to shop for independent and collectible entertainment. We are aware that there are many more options for viewing films in this age of downloads and VOD, so our focus is specifically on the niche collector of such media.
Our management team is made up of veterans of "fan" marketing, having marketed product and media in several genres such as scifi, comics, action adventure, and anime. However, horror has always been our favorite genre and we're thrilled to be able to grow our business during the current explosion in the subject. Our warehouse is in Long Island, New York, but some of our merchandise partners ship items directly from their locations as well.
Our own merchandise is also available at comic and specialty stores all across the country; we are distributed by Diamond Comic Distributors. We also tour the US and Canada, and you can pick up our merchandise at as many conventions as we can get booth space in.
After five years of using our own hand-coded software, we started an extensive (and expensive) six-month rebuild to improve on the customer experience, from listings to search to ordering to shipping to general customer service.
